Abergwesyn project

We have just spent the last 2 days at Abergwesyn common making a start on emptying the 1000 bags of purple moor grass that we had moved by helicopter in March. Once the bags are emptied the grass is being spread out on the bare peat to protect it from heavy rain washing the peat away. We are also creating dams to slow the water flow down further protecting the peat from erosion. Whilst we were emptying the bags it was good to see that some of the seed had started to sprout and we are hoping this will continue.
